š» āļø Code For Kids: Bridging Tech Seeks Special Project Help, Enlisting Coding Volunteers in 2024
Coding to Increase Educational Access -
We are seeking professionals and aspiring coders with technical skills to create an āeasy to useā education platform for K-12 students, as described above. Our goals are to pre-install software in tech devices that are given to families, to provide more comprehensive support. The platform will be designed to build studentsā digital literacy, to augment classroom education, and to increase STEM field learning opportunities.Ā
As we design, the core objective is that the tech devices that we distribute to students will share valuable education, and assist us in opening these doors:Ā
1- Supporting academic achievement -Ā delivering the tech that is needed to complete school work and engage students in using IT tools that have become the norm within careers, highly paid work,
2- Outlining degree pathways - to support deeper engagement in school, weāll clarify what courses students interested in STEM should to take, and provide links to programs:Ā tutoring or other academic supports that can help students overcome challenges,Ā
3- Connecting students to mentors - email and social sites build studentsā āsocial capitalā and serve as channels that connect them to online communities, and to meaningful learning opportunities.
Having an education platform built into Bridging Techās no-cost tech devices will help students maximize this technology. We see this as a cost-effective way to offer them additional support. Their orientation to what the device now in their hands can do, will help unlock opportunities to learn, and to explore options in tech career pathways. Their next steps for education will become more clear. In addition, the platform will highlight current STEM coursework, internships, and opportunities.Ā
Early in 2024, we will launch the design and build phases (sequentially) for the education platform. Our coding efforts will be led by a volunteer team: special projects director, and coding students presently in training and supported by Bridging Techās Encore Fellow, Tony Chun. To build this platform (web-based) we are seeking tech professionals and students with experience working in full stack development including:Ā
html
SQL
Java
Python
React
Note
C-Sharp
Working with trained coders and people with specific skills will get us to our goal faster. We also welcome working with corporate teams with the expertise to complete tangible āwork segments.ā These roles could address a part of a corporationās CSR goals and community investment commitments. If you can do this or if you are in touch with someone who is capable of helping, then please share this newsletter. For more specific information, please write to: contact @ bridgingtech.org

šøĀ š With The Giving Blockās Web-based Tools - Donors Can Now Contribute Crypto, Stocks and DAF $$
Bridging Tech is now accepting cryptocurrency, stocks, and donor advised funds (DAF) contributions through a super efficient online giving platform - The Giving Block. We are also listed among other partnering nonprofit organizations online so new audiences and tech nonprofit supporters can learn more about us on the Giving Block website - Here.Ā
Donations of cyber currency represented approx. $100 Million in charitable giving in 2022 (The Giving Block). The gains from moving crypto (esp. when it appreciates quickly)Ā to causes of personal interest can be quite considerable. There are distinct benefits to these donations:Ā
A cryptocurrency donation conserves value because instead of paying capital gains taxes on the appreciation (when a nonprofit accepts it) the 501(c)(3) charity receives the full value.
Your tax deduction will be assessed in real-time: the nonprofit you contribute to will gain funds equal to the fair market value of the bitcoin (based on a qualified appraisal) as what is ātax deductible.ā
In bringing this new donation capacity online we can now engage the power of crypto to deliver the tools that the next generation needs to succeed. We are also pleased to open doors to giving opportunities and expanding how you and your circles can get involved, and contribute.Ā
In general, people want to give a donation quickly and effortlessly āwhen the inclination strikes.ā Having tools like these built into our website - and its online presence on The Giving Block - reduces friction and makes giving easy.
